A Story Untold

A Story Untold

Black with a ring of gold
There lies a story untold.
A prehistoric gaze in disguise.
Of primordial oceans, were you baptized?
Among the massive leaves and trees,
Did you stalk your prey with ease?
With scorching fire spewing from rocks,
Did the ground quake where you did walk?
Respect, your deafening roar, did demand,
Claiming rule over the unsettled land.

Black with a ring of gold
There lies a story untold.
A gaze of times gone by.
Did you once own the sky?
With leather wings stretched wide,
Did darkness consume while the sun did hide?
Toward stone walls and towers tall,
Did you breathe great, fiery balls?
Were you slain by the handsome, brave
For the helpless beauty to be saved?

Black with a ring of gold
There lies a story untold.

Did you once own the sky?

This week Brendan at earthweal asked us to consider the gaze of an animal and write about the encounter. I have chosen to write about our pet bearded dragon’s eyes. His eyes have always intrigued me. This is our Rocco in the pictures.

Thanks for reading and have a magical day!
With a grateful heart,
Heather

Welcome new friends. I'm Heather, a homeschooling mama raising three children alongside my husband. I love to walk our two dogs, photograph nature, and write poetry. As a family, we love reading together, creating art, sports and all things nature. We also enjoy sharing our learning experiences with friends and creating co-op opportunities. I enjoy writing about our homeschool adventures, as well as nature and sharing recipes. My heart is grateful for my family, our homeschool, our friends and homeschool community, as well as the nature around us.
